Lighting, Render and Compositing Artist

MOONDOG Animation is looking for an experienced Lighting, Render and Compositing Artist to help with multiple exciting projects.

Job Summary

You need to understand the role and importance that lighting plays in the story-telling process

This position requires a high level of artistry and mastery of tools to achieve the best lighting, rendering and compositing results in both traditional and real time render engines.

Working directly under the Studio Director and the Project Manager, you will be responsible for quality and good delivery of all final CG images of the interactive and animation projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work closely with the Art Department to generate stunning CG images
  • Create dramatic and compelling lighting in line with the artistic vision of each project.
  • Create and adapt materials and shaders to match desired look.
  • Create, optimize and manage multi layer render scenes
  • Creatively combine all the elements into the final image, ensuring that the established style of the project is respected and continuity is maintained.
  • Help design and maintain rendering pipeline and manage rendering resource distribution
  • Work with Pipeline and IT department to keep all render resources available and running in good order
  • Keep management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years experience using various high-end lighting, rendering and compositing  solutions in a professional production environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Art, Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience
  • Solid knowledge of Maya is an absolute
  • Good knowledge of lighting, rendering and compositing tools and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of direct and indirect light, luminance and color theory.
  • Familiar with render manager software solution is a plus
  • Solid understanding of the requirements of other departments, from modelling and Rigging, to FX and animation
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment and take direction from Management.
